Weekend Warrior
It’s been quite the productive/unexpectedly fun weekend!
Friday night, Gavin and Katie organized a fun dinner date at Dinosaur BBQ up in Harlem. The mission? Scope out the food since they might have Dino BBQ cater their wedding. It got two giant thumbs up for me! Barbeque at a wedding is like my dream meal. Guys, if you’re reading this…bring on the ribs and cornbread! Also, since Kman and I are thinking of moving up to that area, it was especially nice to be able to wander around and check out our possible new neighborhood.
After lots of beer, great convo (their friends Meagan and Carlos rounded out the most excellent triple date), and killer dinner, we called it a night.
Saturday was a super veg day UNTIL….my final Christmas present! Kman got us tickets to see How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, starring Darren Criss! Beforehand, we went to Schnipper’s for dinner. This guy knows the key to my heart. Sloppy Joes + Broadway show.
The show was beyond phenomenal! Only downside? I think 75% of the audience didn’t give a crap about the actual show, and instead only went to see Darren Criss. So before the show was even finished, throngs of teenaged girls were hurdling from their mid-row seats to rush the stage door. In the words of Stephanie Tanner on Full House….”How rude!”
Then this morning, I woke Kman up bright and early to drag him to Shoprite for a quick shopping trip. Quick, because I had my exact list, with matching coupons to boot. And let me tell you, I was pretty darn proud of myself!
I spent $21.75 on $50.00 worth of groceries, for a savings of $29…aka 57%! BOOM.
My biggest bargains of the day:
- (4) boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch – $0.30 each, $1.20 combined total. Kman loves the stuff, and they were on sale 4/$6. That, combined with 4 $0.60/1 coupons (which double!).
- (2) 32oz bottles of CoffeeMate creamer (yikes, I know it’s bad OK?! I just use a splash every few days.) – $0.89 each! Originally $4.49, on sale for $1.99. That, combined with 2 $0.55/1 coupons…$1.10 off each.
That’s one thing I’ll miss when we move into the city. No more double coupons at Shoprite!
Post-shopping trip, I headed uptown to meet Jess for a bagel. We had scoured Twitter, friend reviews, Yelp, etc and decided to try Ess a Bagel. Whole Wheat Everything with plain cream cheese, please.
Now if you’ll excuse me…I’m off to put together some of these bomb ass pulled pork sandwiches for dinner.
