Thankful Things Thursday
One of my favorite bloggers, Ali, posts a ”Thankful Things Thursday“ every week, and I always love reading it. I’ve been meaning to do my own for a while, but I tend to procrastinate on things so just haven’t gotten around to it. Well, what with it being pretty close to Thanksgiving and all…there’s no time like the present!
I’m thankful I got bit by the cleaning bug yesterday. No dirty surface was safe! I worked from home so a maintenance guy could come in and fix our heater, and in between waiting for people to respond to emails, I attacked and organized: the freezer, the sink under the bathroom, the Tupperware cabinet, the plants on our windowsill, all surfaces of the kitchen, the bathtub…PHEW! I chalked it up to a high from my great run in the morning + two cups of coffee.
I’m thankful that I have wonderful friends. And even more thankful that most of them live in NYC! Especially since I’m an only child, I’ve always treasured my friends as if they were sisters. Sometimes you just need girl time, and it’s great to know what they’re all only a subway ride (or a phone call – ahem, Lee and Kalli!) away.
I’m thankful that man created French Vanilla Coffee-Mate. I got the strangest craving for it the other day. I’ve never actually purchased it in my life, and only had it a handful of times, but I ran to the corner store and picked up a baby bottle of it.
I’m thankful I’ve gotten back into running. I had a love/hate relationship with running for a while, but around my birthday in September, I decided to stop that crap once and for all. I stopped being concerned about mileage or time and just put one foot in front of the other. I’m feeling great, and am determined to keep the momentum going throughout the winter…even when this awesome sign is covered by snow and gunk!
I’m thankful I made the decision to move from San Francisco back to the east coast. In my gut, I knew it was the right choice to make to be closer to my parents (and Kman! The whole long distance relationship thing sucked). Now I’m just a short Amtrak ride away, and the time difference makes keeping in touch much easier. I love that I can go home at the drop of a hat and not worry about horrific plane ticket prices.
I’m thankful that I’m going home for Thanksgiving. I wasn’t able to get home last year, and it was really tough. My parents celebrated with some of our extended family, but I felt horrible for not being home. I’m so looking forward to seeing them and giving them both a million hugs and kisses.
And I’m super thankful that Kman is coming home for the holiday, too! My parents absolutely adore him, and are so incredibly excited to see him.
I’m thankful for veggies being back in my life. I hadn’t eaten a nice big salad at home in what seemed like forever, so it’s nice to finally have a vegetable drawer that’s bursting with spinach, peppers, broccoli, et al.
I’m thankful for warm winter clothes. I jacked this Icelandic wool coat from my mom when I was home in October and it is W-A-R-M! I guess it was all the rage in the 70s, and I absolutely love it. I also have her old-school Sorel boots which are getting broken out as soon as it starts really snowing.
I’m thankful that I have the greatest boyfriend in the universe. I don’t know where the heck he came from, or how I found him (or how he was single!), but I’m grateful everyday that he’s in my life. Moreover, I’m thankful that he loves me just as much as I love him! Sorry to get all mushy on ya this early in the morning.
Question: What are you guys thankful for today? Let’s hear it! It’s such a fun exercise…and I can definitely see this being a regular thing from now on.

I’m thankful for cooler weather, chai tea and that thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner!
The way you talk about your boyfriend is awesome
What made you move to the west coast to begin with?
And I am right with you on the running thing. I’ve stopped comparing myself to “good runners” and learned to appreciate that I can run and enjoy myself.
Today I am thankful for coffee, peace and quiet, and Christmas music.
I hear ya! Bring on the cooler weather, por favor
Aww thank you
I can’t help it, he’s just perfect. I had just graduated and one of my best friends moved out to San Francisco, so I figured I’d give it a shot! Gutsiest move ever…I had no job and no place to live haha. It all worked out though.
That wrap is so amazing
and Christmas music = the best. I’m semi-ashamed to admit it, but I’ve definitely been listening to Justin Bieber’s Christmas album hahaha
I’m thankful that after a long break, I am back to where I LOVE running. I’m also thankful to be back doing my first race tomorrow!
Woo! Good luck
I am thankful for you AMALAMADINGDONG
