Sweet Nectar of the Gods!

In case you missed it, I’ve been documenting my recent foray into juicing. Starting every morning with a fresh juice before anything else is such a nice jumpstart to my day!

On our epic shopping trip yesterday (Target, BJs, and Shoprite in 1.5 hours), we picked up the following fruits/veggies:

  • 8 lbs of navel oranges
  • beets
  • celery
  • carrots
  • spinach
  • kale
  • Granny Smith apples
  • limes
  • parsley

…all for juicing! This morning’s blend was orange, celery, and spinach, based on a recipe that Kman chose from my handy dandy Big Book of Juices.

Fresh orange juice is so flavorful that it can make pretty much anything palatable, even the powerful taste of iron-rich spinach!My juicing book rates recipes on a 1-5 star scale on 5 factors: energy, detox, immunity, digestion, and skin.

This juice racks up the following stars:

Energy = 3/5
Detox = 3/5
Immunity = 4/5
Digestion = 1/5
Skin = 3/5

This was one of my favorite juices to date! The celery and spinach produced hardly any pulp, which means that almost everything was utilized.

That book sounds fantastic, and so does the juice. I’m packing up my juicer and taking it to Jerome’s so he can experience the wonders of fresh juice too!

awesome! What kind of juice are you going to make him? Can’t wait to hear how he likes it.
