Lazy-Productive Monday and a Super Sunday
I guess if ever there were a day to wake up with a horrible sore throat…the day before my last day at work is the time to do it! I’m home from work today because I felt terrible when I work up. Since I wouldn’t be doing a whole lot today anyways, I decided to stay home and nurse myself back to health.
Grapefruit, fresh juice (Granny smith apple, celery, dinosaur kale, carrots, 1/2 lime, 1/2 lemon), OJ, water, peach. Bring on the nutrients!
Ah well, I’ll take one slightly under-the-weather day if it means some nice down time today! Yesterday morning I had every intention of waking up early to go with Kman to his 4 mile race in Central Park, but my body had other ideas. I slept in a little bit instead then set out for a run. I was on a mission to find a nice set of stairs somewhere in Prospect Park, and ta-dah! Found ‘em.
I swear there are actually 9 sets of stairs, but they sort of wind up and to the left. After running a quick 1.5 miles to find them, I sprinted up and jogged back down 5 times. It had been quite a while since I’d done a stair workou and I forgot how great your legs feel afterwards. This will be a definite regular workout!
Nice + schweaty after the stairs.
When I got home it was time to shower quickly and get ready because I had brunch plans in the LES with my new boss, Emily! We planned to meet up at Spitzer’s Corner at 11 to catch up before my first day next Monday. I’m so freaking excited to meet everyone from the Chobani family and dive into lots of fun projects! Also, I just learned that my first day on Monday will consist of a road trip up to the yogurt plant in upstate NY. So. Awesome.
Anywhoo, we chatted and people-watched over our delicious food. I rolled with a grilled shrimp and avocado salad which included green apple shreds and truffle mayo..holy yum.
We parted ways and I made a beeline for H&M in SoHo to scope out some cheapie summer items. It was beyond packed so I didn’t want to try anything on but on my way out, I spotted this shirt. At only $5.95, I had to buy it! Pretty quirky, but I really dig it.
The rest of the day consisted of grocery shopping, meal planning, and hanging out with Kman!
Meal planning for the week:
- Sunday: pizza with spinach, salami, fresh mozzarella
- Monday: brown rice w/ pinto beans + avocado
- Tuesday: sweet potato + snap pea salad with spicy peanut sauce
- Wednesday: turkey burgers
- Thursday: Homemade buffalo chicken healthy calzones
- Friday: dinner out?
Last night’s creation was to die for. I picked up some dough from Roma Pizza on 7th Ave, split it in half, and went to town on making a pizza.
Yay for homemade pizzas! We had a slight fiasco getting the pizza onto the pizza stone in the oven because I used fresh mozzarella which weighs the dough down. It was a team effort that involved 4 hands, a baking sheet, and a lot of “eeking!” on my part. Might not be pretty but it was delish.
Oh, and I’ve also made it a mission of mine to be able to do more than one pull-up. No deadline set on this goal, but I mean come on, this is a pathetic excuse for a pull-up, right? They really suck but I have always wanted to be able to do one. Will she?! Won’t she?! NO ONE KNOWS. OH THE EXCITEMENT. But seriously, I’m workin’ on it.
Now I’ll spend the rest of the day cleaning up my work computer, abusing Pinterest, tidying the apartment up, and napping. Most certainly napping.
Oh, and trying to gather up some haircut ideas for Thursday when I go to Prive Salon. Any recommendations are welcome! My only requirements: long-ish, sort of layered, and something I will never have to blow-dry, because I’m a lazy bones! Some inspiration so far:
With that, I’m off to be lazy-productive. Yep, that’s a thing. It’s where you took a shower but are wearing grubby pajamas. And doing sort of productive things while laying on the couch in slippers. You should try it out, it’s a blast and a half!
