Family Matters

In exactly 12 hours, I will be on a plane with Kman heading down for a week in Puerto Rico!

Just so I’m not leaving everyone entirely in the dark, I’ve been completely off the grid recently due to a family issue. After 3 years of a rough and protracted battle with cancer, my mum passed away on Thanksgiving. I’m glad that she is no longer suffering through endless rounds of chemo and radiation, bottles and bottles of pills, and general discomfort…but it has been the hardest thing in the entire world for me to deal with.

Fortunately, I was able to head home ahead of schedule and spend some quality time with her in the hospital. Having Kman there was such a blessing…I would have been even more of a mess without him. After he had to head back to NYC, I hung around the house for a few more days and spent time with my dad and extended family gettings things in order. As an only child, I of course worry about my dad, but I know that he’s a strong guy and he will be alright. I also pepper him with calls and texts and emails daily, so I keep tabs on him.

So, it turns out that our Puerto Rico vacation could not have been more perfectly planned. After a week of unplugging, relaxing, and reflecting, I’ll be back in action.
