Face Sniffer
Sometimes (read: all the time) cats are really freaking bizarre. As soon as I sat home on the couch after getting home from work, Penny, our notoriously aloof kitty, proceeded to hop up next to me and sniff every inch of my face for a solid 10 minutes. Because that’s totally normal cat behavior…
Kman and I ended up not going to our soccer game last night because we realized we’re 1 week away from moving and had packed absolutely nothing so far. Also, the next week is going to be super hectic and we really won’t have much time to pack, so we needed to make some serious headway last night.
I got to cookin’ dinner as soon as I got home so we could get right down to business. I concocted quite the delicious turkey burger combination if I may say so myself!
Turkey burger + brie cheese + homemade dill mayo + Trader Joe’s red pepper spread. All of the different flavors complemented each other perfectly!
Homemade mayo is honestly the way to go. You know exactly what you’re eating, it tastes incredibly fresh, and you can flavor it any way you want! Simply blend the following together and you will never go back to the jarred stuff again.
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon white wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- salt to taste
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- oodles of dill! or the spice of your choice.
The next few days are going to be busy ones, so I wanted to make sure we’d have something healthy n’ easy for breakfast. Enter Gina’s recipe for whole wheat pancakes! While we were packing, I whipped up a batch and cooked them on the griddle attachment of my big honkin’ George Forman grill. She mentioned that she freezes them so they’ll be an easy breakfast treat, which is exactly what I did! Into a tupperware in the freezer they went, awaiting a slow death by our bellies first thing in the morning.
In between dancing around the apartment packing while listening to “Call Me Maybe”, “Boyfriend”, and various Broadway show songs, I snacked on some Wasa crackers with almond butter + raspberry preserves.
Yummy snack with a disheveled mess of a bedroom in the background. Yikes, I can’t wait to be all moved in!
It was a late night packing, and when I awoke to see the city blanketed in fog, sleeping in sounded like a fantastic option.
Seriously, what the heck is going on with the weather in NYC?! Can someone please explain that?
So instead of getting my sweat on, I lounged around for a while with my little fam! God, aren’t Friday mornings the best? Just a few hours at work and then you have the rest of the weekend to look forward to!
Breakfast was a couple of defrosted whole wheat pancakes, topped with Grade A Vermont maple syrup (the good stuff!), with a side of fresh blackberries and strawberries. YUM.
And a simple carrot, celery, and lemon juice to kickstart the day.
What does everyone have planned for the weekend?! Hopefully the weather clears up if they’re outdoor plans.

I have left Chobani Heaven just briefly to post a grand ‘thank you’ !

For the mayo……..is the egg raw? Also, do you blend in a blender?
Yup, just a regular ol’ egg! I use my submersion hand help blender, but you could even just whip it by hand, which would cut down on clean up time.
