Eye See You
Howdy everyone! Happy (rainy) Friday!
Nothing too exciting happening in these parts this week…I haven’t gone for a run since last Saturday and I’m starting to get a little antsy. Well, I set out for a run Thursday morning but only managed to hobble through 0.3 miles before having to call it quits.
Wednesday, I made the mistake of wearing a pair of old, floppy moccasins and then proceeding to walk 5+ miles after work. I started to feel a dull ache in the arch of my right foot towards the end, but I shrugged it off. Well, the ache got worse and completely squashed my hopes of a Thursday morning run. Soccer last night was out of the question, too. Kman made me stay home and RICE my foot, but it’s still sore today.
Thankfully, the Birkenstocks that I got from #fitblogNYC provide some relief, so I’m rocking those at work today.
This rainy weather can go ahead and clear up now, thank you very much. Granted, we’re supposed to be blessed with a gorgeous, sunny day tomorrow (our 2 year anniversary!), but waking up to rain just makes me want to curl up in bed like so:
Penny has the right idea. COVERING MY FACE CAN’T SEE YOU GO AWAY LET ME SLEEP PLEASE!
While we’re on the subject of animals…well, not really on the subject, but let me just segue from a gratuitous cat picture to something even cuter…can someone (ahem, KMAN!) please get me all of these puppies?
Seriously, I need them. I guess one would suffice, but if they were all delivered to me in a basket, I can’t say I’d really mind.
Recently, I realized it had been a year since I had my last eye appointment and since I gave my two weeks notice at work (details to come on my new gig, promise!), I figured now would be a good time to squeeze in an appointment and use my benefits to get a big ol’ batch of new contacts. Before I set out to Park Slope Eye , I downed an apple, broccoli butt, celery, and lemon juice…
And followed that up by chowing down on a bowl of peanut butter Puffins.
Now, speaking of juicing (see, it worked this time!), I discovered that my vision has improved pretty significantly. The eye doctor was shocked that my glasses registered as being much too strong for my eyes, and my contact prescription was a little strong, also. He said that he never really sees vision get better, and that’s true in my case. Every time I visit the eye doctor, I find that my prescription just creeps up and up.
After forming a hypothesis and doing some Googling, it seems as though my constant veggie/fruit juicing for the past 5 months could have potentially caused this vision improvement. Sure, these articles are light on heavy scientific facts, but I’ve always relied more on personal experience rather than taking Western medicine as the be all and end all of medical proof.
Ayurveda For Improving Eyesight
I’m sure some skeptics will be quick to dismiss this, but it sort of makes sense to me.
Now I’m just looking forward to a great 3 day weekend with Kman. We have a nice little day planned out for tomorrow which includes some of our favorite things. Farmers market, bagels, vegging out in the park with a picnic and some adult beverages, and maybe a dinner out somewhere.
Question: How are you going to spend Memorial Day weekend?! Laying low at home, or heading somewhere for a little getaway?

Interesting theory! Unfortunately, my daily juicing has done nothing to improve my vision. I have a feeling some of my eye problems come from gluten, I’ve been discovering more and more possible links between health issues I have and gluten intolerance!
wow I believe it! That’s great!
I think you’re totally right about the juicing! Jessica and I got mani/pedis when she came to visit and she turned to me and said,”Your leg (medically known as Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome) looks so much better!” I’m going to say that may be the juicing also.
