Bouncing Back!

I feel like a kid on Christmas day this morning! If it’s any indication of how excited I am for the Fitness Magazine Meet & Tweet event today, I woke up 45 minutes before my alarm and absolutely sprung out of bed!

I’m a teensy bit nervous because I can’t remember the last time I was in a situation where I knew absolutely no one. Eek! Can’t wait to meet everyone. icon smile Bouncing Back!

Let’s rewind to yesterday morning, and the reason I didn’t post yesterday. I woke up bright and early ready to do a 5 mile run and some ab work…and it was just one of those runs.

I felt off. Slow, tired, like every step was a chore. Not every run will be great, so I tried to slog through the first two miles. However, my head was just not in it! So I cut it short at crappy 1.68 miles, switching to intervals for the last half, then did a strength workout instead.

Now, I am not saying that a short run is a bad one! Not at all. If you’re out there and you’re moving, that’s fantastic. However, with the Brooklyn Half coming up next weekend, that run dinged my confidence a bit. After work, I was determined to make up the 5 miles!

But something funny happened. The first 4 miles felt like an absolute breeze, so I texted Kman “feeling great at 4. going for 10!”

And that’s just what I did. I set out to do 5, and crushed 10 miles. It was just one of those runs (the good one this time!) where everything felt right and I just rode the runner’s high all the way.

Brooklyn Half, here I come!

Post-run, all I wanted were some veggies in my belly and I didn’t care how they got there! That song, “I don’t care how you get to me just get to me” was playing in my head as I cooked dinner.

Anyone remember that song?! I knew I wanted a big ol’ bowl of brussels sprouts, so I chopped a bunch of those up + roasted them.

And since it was late, I wasn’t in the mood to cook anything fancy so whole wheat pasta and marinara sauce to the rescue! I also wanted moooooore veggies so I cut up some broccoli and threw it on top. Not steamed, not roasted, just raw and crunchy! Told you I wanted vegetables in any way/shape/form. icon smile Bouncing Back!

Now I’m off to juice, have a quick breakfast, and get ready for #fitblogNYC!

Question: If you have a bad workout, how do you bounce back from it?
